Bible characters for kids

Children remember people before they remember chapters. Ask a four year old what happened in Genesis and you get a blank look; ask them about the man who built the enormous boat and they will tell you for ten minutes.

So the library is arranged around people. Each of these pages follows one person from their first story to their last, in the order the events actually happen, so a family can listen through a whole life a few minutes at a time.

How families use these

The most common pattern is one person at a time. A family picks Noah and works through the three stories over a week, and by the end the child has the whole shape of it: a man told to build something absurd, a long wait in the dark, and a promise in the sky. Told as three separate nights, each one is short enough to hold, and the arc still lands.

It also helps with the awkward questions. When a child meets Jacob cheating his brother in one story and limping away from a night of wrestling in another, the second answers the first. Characters who appear in a single story tend to be remembered as a moral; characters followed across four are remembered as people, which is nearer to how the Bible actually tells them.

Every story page carries a memory verse, four questions to talk about, and a short prayer. Some pages have the full text of the story and some have the opening; all of them have a free audio preview you can play without signing up for anything.
