This is one of the shortest, quietest stories in the whole Bible. Just a few lines... four tiny verses. But oh... it might be one of the most beautiful.
Come close. Closer. This one is almost a whisper.
A long, long time ago, there was a man named Enoch. And the Bible says something very simple about him. It says...
Enoch walked with God.
That's it. That's the story. But listen to how beautiful it is.
Enoch walked with God... in the morning, when the dew was still cool on the grass and the birds were just beginning to sing.
Enoch walked with God... in the evening, when the stars came out one by one and the world grew quiet.
Enoch walked with God... when his little boy Methuselah was born. He walked with God when Methuselah grew tall. He walked with God when more children came — sons and daughters, laughing and playing around him.
Year after year after year. Through sunshine. Through rain. Through every ordinary, quiet day.
Enoch walked with God.
Do you know what it means to walk with someone? It means you stay close. It means you go the same way, at the same pace. It means you talk... and sometimes you're just quiet together. And that's enough.
Enoch walked with God like that. Day after day. For three hundred years.
Three hundred years of walking together...
And then one day... Enoch kept walking. And he didn't come back.
The Bible says it so softly: "Enoch walked with God, and he was not... for God took him."
He was not.
He just... wasn't there anymore. Because God took him home. Like a friend who walks you all the way home and says, "Come in."
No one could find Enoch. Because he wasn't lost. He was exactly where he belonged — with God. Walking still, maybe. Walking forever.
And God was with him. God was with her. God is with you, too.
May the same God who walked with Enoch every single day... walk with you, wherever you go.
