Sarah Laughs and Isaac Is Born

"Ha!"
Just like that — a burst of pure, surprised joy. One big, beautiful laugh that rang out across the hills.
That sound? That's the sound of a promise coming true.
Do you remember Sarah? The one who laughed — very quietly — behind the tent flap when the visitor said she would have a baby? Well... here we are. One year later. Almost to the day.
They waited.
Weeks passed. Months passed. The stars wheeled slowly over the desert tent. And something was growing. Something wonderful. Sarah felt it — a little flutter, like butterfly wings. Then a tiny kick. She put her hand on her belly and her eyes went wide.
Oh... oh my.
It was true. It was really, really true.
And then the day came. The most beautiful day. A baby boy was born to Sarah and Abraham — just as God had said, just as God had promised, right on time. Abraham was a hundred years old. A hundred! And there he was, holding his tiny, perfect son, with ten little fingers and ten little toes, laughing and crying all at once.
They named the baby Isaac.
Do you know what Isaac means? It means... "he laughs."
He laughs! They named their baby Laughter. Because that's what God gave them.
And Sarah — oh, Sarah. She held that baby close, and she said the most wonderful thing. She said:
"God has made laughter for me. Everyone who hears about this will laugh with me."
And they did! The neighbors laughed. The relatives laughed. Everyone who heard the news just had to smile, because it was so surprising, so impossible, so perfectly God.
Sarah said, "Who would have told Abraham that Sarah would nurse a baby? Yet here I am — holding my son."
Remember that first laugh? The "are you serious?" laugh behind the tent? God took that laugh and turned it inside out. He turned a doubting laugh into a joyful laugh. He turned waiting into wonder. He turned "impossible" into... a giggling baby named Laughter.
Because that's what God does, little one. He keeps His promises. Even when it takes a long, long time. Even when it seems completely, totally impossible. God remembers. And God keeps every single word.
And God was with him. God was with her. God is with you, too.
May the same God who turned Sarah's waiting into laughter walk with you, wherever you go. The end.
